I'm actually really surprised a lot more people didn't like it. The only critique I would have is that I wish the sexual scenes were steamier, but I understand how there was many things to cover and this was a transition into exploring new natures. I was (and still kind of am) overwhelmed with the amount of people in the pack and keeping up with names and personality. At first I didn't get it but then I realized how attention to detail this author is and I love the characterization they have incorporated. There wasn't just a focus on the Alpha and his mate but other moving parts. I loved the end where (spoiler alert) August doesn't instantly accept the craziness that he was put into due to the circumstances of him finding out everything and this made it seem more real. In hindsight I would have been upset from August being immediately okay with it after Kyle ended up finding out. I also love that August made sure to tell the pack that he would never hate their Alpha. I'm so sad I have to wait for the next book but I am eagerly anticipating it! I couldn't tell if the voice that the author used was a bit juvenile because the characters themselves were young, or because the author's writing style is this way. The beginning of the book was entertaining, but a bit of a data dump to jumpstart the worldbuilding. Once you get past that though, the story definitely picks up and we get to know this new pack.I have to wonder, if there was some mastermind who took out the previous pack, and who is still around, why didn't they start the whole world dominating thing already? Why didn't they stay in the really nice house, rather than a cave? How did they know that Selena would be coming 50 years before she was born? And if he's been watching the new pack, seeing that they are young is one thing, but it's he not even slightly concerned by the power that they possess individually and collectively?
